Overview
Comprehensive Managed Services for Global Content Delivery and Processing
A top five player in Media and Entertainment (M&E) needed to improve the speed, cost-efficiency, and security of global distribution. AWS’ offering for M&E held the necessary capabilities, but advanced cloud skills were needed to implement them effectively. As a media supply chain partner with proven cloud expertise, Vubiquity – an Amdocs company, was appointed to unlock the benefits of AWS. The engagement delivered the following outcomes which have contributed to revenue growth for the M&E company:
- Better global day and date distribution
- Seven-fold increase in distribution capacity
- Improved efficiency and error reduction

Challenge
Non-core media supply chain Was inefficient and slow-moving
Challenges within the non-core media supply chain cost center were hindering revenue growth for this company. As global distribution expanded, key processes critical to the seamless and compliant delivery of content struggled to scale efficiently and cost effectively. Additionally, the rollout of new features and adoption of emerging technologies to enhance media supply chain workflows were significantly delayed. Concerns around security and operational resilience further compounded these issues.
Recognizing the need for urgent modernization of the media supply chain, Vubiquity was selected to initiate a transformation strategy and selected AWS as the preferred cloud platform to support it. Vubiquity led the execution and continues to manage cloud-based asset management and localization workflows, enabling greater scalability, efficiency, and innovation.
Solution
Platform-based approach improves media supply chain performance
Vubiquity’s solution is built around AssetVU, a purpose-built, cloud-native platform hosted on AWS and powered by a suite of AWS services. A key component of the initiative involved migrating the media and entertainment company’s asset library to the cloud, with VidiNet -available via AWS Marketplace – serving as the centralized asset repository.
The end-to-end digital workflow begins with source files being transferred from the company’s production studio data center to the AssetVU AWS environment. AWS Elemental MediaConvert is then used to generate proxy files, enabling efficient transcoding of file-based content into streaming-ready assets. At this stage, digital rights management (DRM) is seamlessly integrated using a customized solution from BuyDRM.

To ensure secure and streamlined content preparation and distribution, ingest partners and global endpoints were onboarded to AWS. Localization and conformance processes – such as subtitle integration – have been optimized through automation. Media asset management has also been enhanced with a dedicated proxy viewer and lossless mezzanine IMF (Interoperable Master Format) mastering. The proxy viewer accelerates file discovery and annotation, while IMF mastering ensures high-fidelity assets serve as the authoritative source for all downstream distribution and versioning.
Security is further reinforced through a layered approach using AWS services including Web Application Firewall (WAF), GuardDuty, Shield Advanced, and Secrets Manager. Public and private resources are isolated using virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, and security groups to maintain strict access control.
Outcomes
Improved asset management drives efficiency and revenue gains
Vubiquity’s AssetVU platform, powered by AWS, efficiently processes over 20,000 asset ingests per month and manages a library of 800,000 assets across more than 2,000 global endpoints. This platform has enabled a sevenfold increase in global distribution capacity, significantly improved visibility into asset readiness, and introduced component-level proxy playback for greater flexibility.
A more advanced approach to order management has also streamlined operations, reducing errors and increasing overall efficiency. Collectively, these improvements have led to more consistent and reliable global day-and-date content distribution – directly supporting revenue growth by enabling synchronized global promotions, minimizing the risk of unauthorized content sharing, and enhancing subscriber acquisition and retention.
